Christmas Nails 2013

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I hope you all had a lovely time over the month. As it is my favourite time of year I have absolutely loved it as always. And I have done a few nail designs over the month so I decided to put them all into one post, hope you enjoy x

Sunday 1st December 2013

It is the first of December so what could be more fitting than advent calender nails.
I'll be honest, the image I had in my head of these was a lot better than the final result. I like the idea but did not like how it turned out. It may be something to work on for next year.

Tuesday 3rd December 2013

After having my Christmas tree up for a few days I got inspired to create Christmas bauble nails. I decided to use one basic colour for the baubles (silver) as I thought multi colours would make the design a bit too busy. To add a bit of change I used 2x different silvers for the base colour and 3x different glitters for the tops. I coloured the outline with various shades of green to give the feeling of branches. I was going to leave it like this but the baubles didnt stand out enough so I decided to do the outline in silver. I love the design and how it turned out.

Sunday 8th December 2013

This design I saw online and fell in love with it. I love the use of jewels for the stars and thought the design was quite classy. I was happy how these nails turned out and was quite sad to take them off.

Saturday 21st December 2013

I had the ides to create Christmas present nails a few years ago but could never decide how best to do it. I was worried I would overdo the colours and patterns and the whole idea had the possibility of turning out badly. This year I decided to take the plunge and kept it as simple as possible.
I started with the base colours, decided to choose silver and gold as they are classic Christmas colours. I looked through my Konad nail stamps for ideas and found a snowflake and a star which I decided to alternate. I quite liked this effect on its own and it reminded me of Christmas wrapping without being too over the top. For the ribbon I chose green and red alternating (matching green to the silver and red to the gold.) I had also found a tree shaped stamp that I decided to use as the present tag. I did like the over all look of these nails. They were fun and bright but not too much.

Tuesday 24th December 2013

I spent Christmas Eve at home with my family as I always do and this time I asked everyone if I could paint their nails. My mum, sister and aunty all jumped at the chance so I bought my polishes over. I decided to do snowflakes for everyone and chose basic glittery colours. I painted all the snowflakes by hand and everyone was delighted with their nails and I liked how the white contrasted with the colours so well. I really enjoyed painting other peoples nails again.

Mum: Red glitter with white snowflake moons
Samantha - Blue glitter with white snowflakes on all nails
Lynn - Green glitter with white snowflakes on thumb and accent nail.

I really loved how my aunties nails looked on Christmas Eve so I decided to do the design on my own nails. I love the colours from the glitter and the contrast between the white and the green.

Northampton Saints Nails

Friday 27th September 2013

My boyfriend is a massive Northampton Saints rugby fan and since being together I have developed a fondness for the game. He took me to see them today and I decided to paint my nails to show my support. I really enjoyed the game, especially as they won the game.

Molly Flower Nails

Wednesday 25th September 2013

I got asked to paint another friends nails. She said she liked flowers so I went for this design. I used jewels on the thumbs and accent nails. She was very happy with her nails.

China Glaze Holographic

Saturday 9th June 2013

Being the nail polish addict that I am I have been on the look out for holographic polishes for the last few years. I always seem to just miss the collections so when I found these on the China Glaze website I just had to buy them. And I'm so glad I did because they are beautiful.

Polishes left to right : Sci-Fly By, Infra Red, Don't Be a Luna-tic, Strap On Your Moonboots, Take a Trek, Galactic Gray (shown below), OMG a UFO, Cosmic Dust, Cast a Spell (not holographic but still lovely)

New Polishes!!!

Wednesday 1st May 2013

A few weeks ago I placed an order online for some Nails Inc nail polish. There was a promotion
to get a lucky dip of 7 polishes for £18. As I have been looking at a lot of them lately I decided to have a go and ordered two sets (getting £154 worth of polishes for £36). And today they arrived.
For today's manicure I decided to use two of these new polishes, a beautiful red/orange and a glittery pale pink. I love the polishes and the colours. Can't wait to use the others.

Green Glittery Ends

Friday 26th April 2013

This polish is possibly my favourite one I have. It is a ChinaGlaze one from a Halloween pack and it is a beautiful olive green glitter. I decided to use this and do a French manicure with it. It felt a little but summery which complimented the weather. To add a little bit of extra I got my gems out as I remembered I had an olive green one and I picked pinky purple to add a bit of contrast.

Matte Green

Saturday 20th April 2013

Wanted to keep it simple today. I was really tempted to just go for plain black nails but they never go that well. As I wanted a dark colour I looked through my polishes and found this dark green. I love the colour but not used it yet. I liked the end colour but decided to use a matte top cost to give it an edge. I think it looked a little bit like green velvet.

Snoopy

Sunday 14th April 2013

My family all love snoopy. I was bought up loving the cartoons and everything so when my mum saw some snoopy nail art she sent it to me and I replicated it. I used holographic transfer foil and snoopy water decals to produce it. The photos don't quite show the colours of the foil but I do love the design xx

Dinosaur Footprints

Saturday 6th April 2013

Today is my 26th birthday and to celebrate we did the oh so mature thing of going to the zoo! We went to Twycross because there is a dinosaur exhibit on (and I am a dinosaur geek) so I had to do matching nails... Enjoy :) xx

Gold Nails

I wasn't sure what to do when I went to paint my nails last night. Looking through my polishes I found one I bought at Christmas, a gold, red and green glitter so decided to use that.
I painted my nails with a base coat of gold then covered in the glitter. To add a bit more colour I decided to paint two lines in red and green.

I do like the final look, especially the glitter in the sunlight.

Reverse Leopard Print

Wednesday 6th February 2013

Morning all,

I did these nails last night, felt like doing a black and white design and I love leopard print. Unfortunately I did them late at night and they werent fully dry by the time I went to bed (oops).

I do prefer the black spots on white as they seem crisper but overall I like the effect. Feel free to let me know what you think x

Multi Coloured

Good morning,
I have had a bit of a break from nail designs to give my nails a rest but I got back into it this weekend.

This design was simply an upgrade from a single colour. I started with the pink and decided it was a bit too plain for me. So I looked through my colours. After finding the blue I decided to do the moon and the tips in the same colour to contrast with the pink. After doing the moons (and loving the contrast) I thought blue tips may be too much and so I got out the other colour that caught my eye, purple.

I like the simple design and the effective contrast of the colours. Let me know what you think...

Feathers

18th January 2013

Hello,
Lately I have seen a few nail designs using real feathers, and I thought it was a good idea. So I bought some feathers hehe.

I had a bit of trouble to start off with but once I changed the thickness of the feathers then it slowly started to work. I quite like the final result, although it is a bit of a rough finish so not sure how long it'll last for.

UPDATE - 21st Jan

These didn't last long, especially when you have a gig. I had a gig on Saturday 19th and I had lost 3 of them by the time I got home. They had been catching all day though. I was a bit dissapointed but I will try this again and see what I can produce.

Various Designs

This is the last of my old designs x

Green Flames

This was inspired whilst watching Orange County Choppers. They had painted flames on a bike and I really liked the graphics of it. I decided to give it a go but instead of doing the regular red to yellow and decided to use green. The picture on the right shows the colour underneath the flames.

Comics

This one was my birthday gift to myself. Wanted to do it for ages and when I did I was really happy with it. I went to London for the weekend and everyone was commenting on them. The writing and lines were done by hand using a permanent marker pen.

Marbling

This was my first go at marbling. It was so difficult and made such a mess but it was great fun. It was my first one so that's why it wasn't very neat.

Smiley Faces

Another basic design, liked the colours and the faces.

National Space Centre

I did these when I went to the National Space Centre. The nails are all of the planets in order; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. These were all painted by hand.

Flock Creature

This was an idea I got once I bought some flock. I wanted to try it out quickly and this little creature popped into my head. It was strange having furry bits on my nails, couldn't stop stroking it hehe.

Snoopy

I have been bought up loving Snoopy so once I got this idea I was quite excited. It turned out well too, especially the Woodstock on the little fingers.
