Feathers

18th January 2013

Hello,
Lately I have seen a few nail designs using real feathers, and I thought it was a good idea. So I bought some feathers hehe.

I had a bit of trouble to start off with but once I changed the thickness of the feathers then it slowly started to work. I quite like the final result, although it is a bit of a rough finish so not sure how long it'll last for.

UPDATE - 21st Jan

These didn't last long, especially when you have a gig. I had a gig on Saturday 19th and I had lost 3 of them by the time I got home. They had been catching all day though. I was a bit dissapointed but I will try this again and see what I can produce.

Various Designs

This is the last of my old designs x

Green Flames

This was inspired whilst watching Orange County Choppers. They had painted flames on a bike and I really liked the graphics of it. I decided to give it a go but instead of doing the regular red to yellow and decided to use green. The picture on the right shows the colour underneath the flames.

Comics

This one was my birthday gift to myself. Wanted to do it for ages and when I did I was really happy with it. I went to London for the weekend and everyone was commenting on them. The writing and lines were done by hand using a permanent marker pen.

Marbling

This was my first go at marbling. It was so difficult and made such a mess but it was great fun. It was my first one so that's why it wasn't very neat.

Smiley Faces

Another basic design, liked the colours and the faces.

National Space Centre

I did these when I went to the National Space Centre. The nails are all of the planets in order; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. These were all painted by hand.

Flock Creature

This was an idea I got once I bought some flock. I wanted to try it out quickly and this little creature popped into my head. It was strange having furry bits on my nails, couldn't stop stroking it hehe.

Snoopy

I have been bought up loving Snoopy so once I got this idea I was quite excited. It turned out well too, especially the Woodstock on the little fingers.

Events

This post is for my random events nails, hope you like x

Samantha's Birthday

I did these nails for my sisters birthday. I was really happy with how they came out and she liked them too.

Olympics 2012

I was lucky enough to be in London for the Olympics opening ceremony. We weren't in the arena but we got ourselves a spot in a park near a very large screen, really was a great day. The nails are all using water decals which were stuck on over white. The gems came off the middle finger quite quickly as I am a picker.

Valentines Day

Simple design using Konad print plates.

Fireworks Night

This was for fireworks night. I painted the fireworks with clear polish and covered with glitter.

Children In Need

Did these for a Children In Need event at work. Took the design from Pudsey.

Autumn

I had this idea for months, and was really excited to get it on my nails. Unfortunately they didn't end up how I expected.

Halloween - Spiders

I don't always do Halloween style nails but this design popped into my head and I couldn't resist. I loved how these turned out. Although they are Halloween-y they were also quite delicate. I did a base coat of glow in the dark nail polish which didn't quite work as well as I had hoped. If I did the design again I would do more layers of glow in the dark.

Christmas Nails

Christmas is my favourite time of year, both generally and for nail designs. This year over Christmas I managed to paint someone elses hands for the first time ever. I will post these images in this post, hope you like them x

Blue Snowflakes

This is an old design but it is one of my favourites. I like the fact that I stayed away from the usual green and red for Christmas nails. The snowflakes were drawn on with a paint pen (not too good for your nails).

Christmas Tree

Bit of a simple one but still fun :)

Holly

Now this was my very first time painting someone elses nails. I came up with the design and she asked if I could paint her nails so I said yes. It was a simple design, the nail tips and holly painted on by hand with gems stuck on for the berries on the thumb and accent nails. I also did the design on my own hands.

Silver Snowflakes

I bought myself a new Metallic nail polish and wanted to use it and this design popped into my head. The snowflakes are hand painted using nail art pens. The glittery metallic base colour gave a festive edge to it.

Red & Green Christmas

This was a last minute design for an early family Christmas dinner. I used nail stickers for this one.

Snowman

After seeing the advert for the new snowman film this year I came up with this design. I love how happy the snowman is and it always made me smile when I looked at them. This is the kind of design I would be happy with all year round.

Gillian & Kerry Christmas

After the success of the Holly nails I was asked again by some friends if I would do them some Christmas nails. I said yes and created these two designs. I like the snowflake design as it uses the moon shape on the nails. The other ones are a great use of Christmas colours and a new glitter I got on the day.

Christmas Roof Scene

These were my Christmas Eve/Day nails. I did go slightly overboard with them but I absolutely loved them. If you can't go crazy at Christmas then when can you?? Merry Christmas x

Band Nails

When I am not wasting my time painting my nails I am also a bass player in a few bands, and I go to as many gigs as I can. For a few of them I have painted my nails for them, enjoy x

The Specials

These nails took forever to paint. I used the specials/ska man to break up the design slightly on the accent nail. I did leave these a little bit too late at night to do so ended up slightly smudging the black when I put the clear top coat on. They were very eye catching though and I do like the black and white contrast.

Foo Fighters

I didn't get the best photograph of this one which is a shame.

Iron Maiden

Steve Harris (the bass player from Iron Maiden) is my ultimate bass hero. He is amazing to listen to and to watch whilst he is playing. So when I went to see Iron Maiden for the second time I couldn't resist doing my nails. Copying the font on their logo I wrote the name on each nail by hand.

Black Sabbath

I did struggle coming up with a design when I went to see Black Sabbath. I was very tempted to just paint them black. But eventually I got a bit of inspiration and using gradient painting I mimicked the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album cover.
